JUST President attends the East Africa Development Forum
The president of Jamhuriya University of Science and Technology (JUST) Eng Mohamed Ahmed Mohamud attended two days conference organized by East Africa Association for Development and Research (DAD) in Istanbul, Turkey. The theme of the conference was‘Turkish-Somali Partnership: Stepping Forward’. The conference was designed to promote the education sector of the east Africa particularly Somalia with collaboration of Turkey. The participants discussed the challenges and the opportunities in the education sector.
The conference sessions also discussed development partnerships between Somali-Turkish universities on the areas of research and development as well as the future Somali-Turkish academic relations. The participants noted the importance of collaboration in research areas to enhance the education systems.
The delegates from Somali universities met with the ambassador of the federal republic of Somalia to Turkey Mr. Jama Abdullahi Mohamed, and the cultural attaché. They had appreciation lunch with the ambassador and the cultural attaché together and discussed the education system of Somalia. The delegates talked with the ambassador about the facilitation of documents for Somali students pursuing their post graduate studies in Turkey. Delegates also noted the crucial role played by the Somali embassy for facilitating Somali students to study in Turkey. The ambassador noted and encouraged the efforts of the Somali Universities to improve the education systems.
Finally the president of Jamhuriya University of Science and Technology (JUST) Eng Mohamed Ahmed Mohamud had a fruitful meeting with Prof. Dr. Ali Sheikh Ahmed,the general director of the East Africa Association for Development and Research (DAD) and discussed about the relations of the JUST University and the DAD. JUST University and the DAD agreed to collaborate on the areas of research and development and sign a memorandum of understanding covering the areas of partnership.
