JUST University 2018 Year in Review
The Conference on Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS-2018) was the first conference of its kind by Jamhuriya University of Science & Technology. Attended by 200 participants from universities, hospitals, the government, civil society, researchers, and academicians, the conference featured many topics specific to Somalia, and the theme was “a will to establish health research initiatives toward sustainable health in Somalia”.
Jamhuriya University signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the areas of academic collaborations such as research, development, staff and students exchange with Ondukuz Mayis University (OMU) and Üsküdar University in Turkey. Jamhuriya University also signed MOU with the East Africa Association for Development and Research (DAD) covering the areas of academic partnership and staff development.
Delegates from the Ministry of higher education of Sudan visited JUST
A delegation from the Ministry of Education of Sudan visited Jamhuriya University of Science & Technology (JUST. During the visit, the delegation, led by Dr. Tarig Mohamed Nour, General Directorate of Foreign Relations, Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, met with the president of JUST and the members of the university executive team. The delegation had a chance to see the different facilities of the university such as Laboratories, Library, class rooms and other infrastructure. The delegation and members from the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education also attended an honor dinner organized by JUST.
JUST 3rd Convocation
Jamhuriya University held its 3rd Convocation Ceremony 2018. Hundreds of students from different faculties and specializations graduated from the university. New specializations that were graduated in 2018 includes: Six years general medicine and surgery (MBBS), Public health, Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Public Administration (PA), Accounting & Finance and Telecommunication majored in Power.
JUST University participated a number of events/workshops held in Mogadishu such as 3rd SomNOG Conference, ICT Expo and Mogadishu Tech Summit.
MBBS Professional Exam
The MBBS students sat for professional final exam which was the first of its type conducted in the local universities. More than 29 medical practitioners and lecturers set the exam and invigilated.
Jamhuriya University opened two well-equipped labs, one for the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) department and the other one for the faculty of Computer & Information Technology (CIT).
The election of the JUST President
Eng Mohamed Ahmed Mohamud was elected by Jamhuriya Foundation team as the president of Jamhuriya University of Science and Technology (JUST).
4th Students Union Election
Earlier 2018, Jamhuriya University Students Association (JUSA) conducted an election exercise where JUSA’s 4th President was elected who will be in office for one year term.
